According to Seels & Richey, “Management involves controlling Instructional Technology through planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising” (1994). Additionally, “A manager is a leader who motivates, directs, coaches, supports, monitors performance, delegates, and communicates” (McGriff, 2006). There are four AECT subdomains of management including: project management, resource management, delivery system management, and information management. This section of my portfolio provides two letters of reference which describe my competencies in the area of management. My areas of strength include project management and resource management. However, as the letters of reference describe, I also have developed skill in the subdomains of delivery system management and information management.
There are two letters from Margaret Macedo that describe management experiences and skills I have developed as an educator while working in a variety of roles. This experience has included the selection of instructional materials and resources, budgeting, and working with personnel. The letters describe how I have applied resource, project and delivery system management.
The letter from Mark Burns speaks directly about my performance as an intern during EDIT 242: Practicum in Instructional Technology while working for the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors/PRDS. In this role, my ability to take initiative and be self-directed were essential to the completion of the project. Skills in all four subdomains of management including project, time and information management were crucial parts of this practicum.
